Yemen Ministry of Transport Condemns Renewed Houthi Attacks on Aden International Airport

The Ministry of Transport of Yemen strongly condemns and denounces the renewed targeting of Aden International Airport by the Houthi terrorist militia, which shelled the airport twice today, Wednesday, with several ballistic missiles. The first attack took place at 1:00 p.m., and the second at 3:00 p.m., bringing the total number of attacks on the airport to six within a matter of days. This represents a dangerous escalation that threatens the safety of air navigation and the lives of civilians.

The Ministry emphasises that the repeated targeting of Aden International Airport, a vital civilian facility, poses a direct threat to the lives of passengers, flight crews and airport personnel, exposing civil aviation operations to serious risks. It also has severe implications for citizens’ mobility and humanitarian and relief efforts. The continuation of these attacks raises serious concerns about the safety of air operations and places civilian lives at unacceptable risk.

The Ministry holds the Houthi militia fully responsible for these attacks and their consequences. It calls on the international community and relevant United Nations organisations, foremost among them the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), to condemn these attacks, take urgent action to halt them, and adopt a clear and firm position to ensure the protection of airports and civilian facilities and safeguard the safety of civil aviation in accordance with relevant international laws and conventions.

The Ministry of Transport stresses that the continued targeting of Aden International Airport constitutes an extremely dangerous escalation. Protecting passengers’ lives and ensuring the security and safety of civil aviation are responsibilities that cannot be delayed or treated with indifference.
